Mommy Files: Toddler Trail Mix

We’ve all experienced it, our kiddos rejecting their usual favorite snack because for the day it’s “just not good enough for them”. Of course there are still a few hours left until dinner so it has to be a snack and not a full meal. Well, I loved the idea my husband had when he offered our son a little of his Trail Mix. And although I did not particularly care for the fact that he picked out all of the candy and pretzels and just left the peanuts and raisins, it gave me the idea to make him his own “Toddler Trail Mix” customized with his favorites.

The beauty of this recipe is that you can mix and match each new batch to keep things exciting. Plus to them digging in the bag for what random food will come out next keeps them entertained. (Hello road trips!)

So I present to you: The Toddler Trail Mix

Here’s what you’ll need…. (1 cup of each)

  • Cheerios (any type)
  • Gerber Yogurt Melts
  • Rice Chex
  • Dried Fruit (we use cranberries)

Other options to add:

  • Goldfish
  • Gerber Puffs
  • M&Ms
  • Pretzels
  • Raisins
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Golden Grahams
  • Anything your child might like
  1. Add 1 cup of each ingredient into a large bowl
  2. Mix all ingredients
  3. Scoop 1 cup of the trail mix into snack sized ziplock bags
  4. That’s it!

What ingredients will you add to your trail mix?
